The
Fishing

Boddington reservoir is up there
with the best when it comes to
catching bundles of smaller carp, a
truly prolific venue where the
winning match weight can come from
any of the 120+ pegs using a wide
variety of methods. For pleasure
anglers looking to get into carping
this is a great place to start as you
are virtually guaranteed a good days
fishing. More experienced anglers
may find boddington a little too
easy to be anything of a challenge
as the carp in there are nothing
short of crazy. They will eat
virtually any bait you care to use
including sweetcorn, maggotts,
pellets, bread, paste, cheese,
boilies, pepperami... you name it!!
Another highly popular method at
this venue has been the locally
developed 'baggin waggler' which has
been used to great success at places
like clattercote and drayton. Match
anglers regularly use the pole to
catch the carp as you dont need to
cast to the horizon in order to
catch fish here, just 6 or 7 metres
out is plenty... |
Peg
Availability
 With
well over 120 pegs, you are always
spoilt for choice when it comes to
pegs even over weekends or
when there are matches on. A recent
revamp of the venue in 2007 has seen
the addition of purpose built
angling platforms along the main
section of reservoir.

|
Walk To
Peg

The walk to the peg has recently
been improved by the addition of a
new set of stone steps up to the
reservoir and a concreted walkway
section.
|
Price

Prices are reasonable for
Boddington as with most British
Waterways venues. Concessions are
also available.
|
|
Parking

Non-Secure on site parking is
available, with space for around 60
cars.
|
Facilities

On site
facilities are limited to a small
porta-loo for the brave, and a much
needed bin in the car park.
|

|
Busy

Due to the sheer size of this water,
there are always plenty of pegs. So
it doesnt really matter too much how
busy this place gets.

Find It
From the M40 turn off at junction 11
and follow the A361 signposted
'Banbury' and 'Drayton'. Follow the
A361 for approximately 15 miles
until you reach a small road on the
left called 'The Twistle' (which is
just before you enter Byfield).
Follow the road for about a mile as
you go through a small village. As
you exit the village you come to a
cross-roads where you need to turn
left onto Boddington Road. Follow
the road right the way along, until
you reach a small hump-back bridge
the car park is about 300 yards
further along on the left.
