“this i think is somthing that has most people going round and round in cercles when they first start carp fishing as it did me but now ive got to grips with what the tc dose in the rod its easy to to pick the right tc rod for the type of carping im going to be doing...so what rods and tc do you all use..????
i was using 2.5 when i started carping then i went to 2.75 a year or so later and now ive just got myslef two 3lb tc fox warrior because of the sort of carping im going to be doing also im going to be using them for cats at some point this year..I CANT WAIT TO HOOK A BIG OLD CARP OR MOGIE ON ME FOX ROD”

“I always go for the lightest TC possible, my reasoning is that the softer rods are less likely to pull the hook out of this fish. ”

“I go for 2.25 or 2.5. I like to use the lightest rod I possibly can.. Makes the fight more fun and also same reason as Bazil... Its fine on 3lb rod if you are catching fish over 30lb consistanlty but if you come across anything less than 10lb on a 3lb rod I find its like pulling them in on a snooker cue! ”

“lol ive only gone up to 3lb cuz when i fish linear, yateley, or the home of the 30s orchid lakes the rods will cope with the long range fshing casting that i like doing..i still got a few 2.5 tc rods for the close in work but i tend to fish long range for most of me fishing.”

“3lb test for long distance is probably about right.. You dont want to be snapping off or worse snapping the rod when casting..I dont tend to fish many lakes that you need to cast out too far but if I did i would probably use 2.75 at the most..
I guess its a personal preference... i have heard of people who wouldnt even dare use anything less than 3lb for close range purely cause they prefer the feel... Which is something that I cant understand. The lighter the rod the more feel. ”
