We are planning a trip there in the next week or so, and would like to hear how it has been fishing lately, what baits work or which areas we should be fishing.
Thnx ”

“Ok well were back from fishing Mallard lake on the Bluebell complex, and we did manage to get a few carp out, but nothing massive.
It wasnt exactly fishing its head off and one of us (out of 3) even blanked (not me this time )
We fished the road side of the lake towards the large bay at the end, we used a variety of baits including Dynamite baits peach and mango boilies, cell boilies, and sweetcorn. The boilies accounted for most of the fish.
Biggest fish of the session was a mirror carp of around 16lb, with a 14lb a 10lb and a few 8lb ers making up the rest of the haul aswell as the odd tench.
I would fish it again, although I will probably wait until next year when the fish have grown on a bit.”

“Nice write up dude!! Apart from I didnt blank! (kinda) I was in the khazi when my rod rattled off. Pond was looking after them for me and netted a mirror around the 8lb mark for me!
Overall its another typical Bluewater lake.. Crystal clear water and beautiful surrondings. As Bazil has said i think the fish are a little on the small side at the moment so probably wouldnt fish it again for atleast a year.”

“Sorry Doobs, didnt realise you actually landed something.
I think pond is right, we should fish bluebell lake next time, and give Mallard a year or two for the fish to get bigger.”

“Hmmm not so keen on Bluebell lake, last time i fished it, all be it a few years ago, i got pestered by bream all night. It may have changed a bit since then so Im willing to give it a go. With some 22mm boilies!”

“The fishing can be very hard at bluebell, the lakes are very large waters, and the water is normally crystal clear.
Add to that the presence of weed in most of the lakes, and you soon see why Bluebell can leave you feeling exasperated.
With that said, i have seen a few carp out over the years, but they tend to be the smaller fish.
If you dont mind putting in several blank sessions between your fish then kingfisher lake can be very rewarding, but as i said you are really fishing for 1 or 2 runs over a 3 day period.”
